As part of the Lifetime of Music initiative, the Northshore Concert Band (NCB) has offered top band students the opportunity to perform with NCB on several selections at their February 9, 2014 concert. The performance will be at 3:00 P.M. at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall on the campus of Northwestern University.
The Lifetime of Music event is designed to introduce young musicians to the idea that “music is for a lifetime”. NCB is deeply dedicated to music education and continuing performance opportunities for band musicians beyond high school and college. Part of their mission is “to foster and promote wind music and the adult band concept and to assist in the music education of young people.” Through this outreach, they hope to demonstrate to younger musicians the fact that there are opportunities for them to play and enjoy their instrument their entire lives, regardless of whether they chose a musical vocation.
Seven of our 8th grade NBJH Wind Ensemble students elected to submit their names for participation in this special event. We are proud that two of our students - Emma Brooks (flute) and George Grunditz (tenor sax) - were selected to be a part of the Lifetime of Music event!
The Lifetime of Music event will be an extraordinary opportunity for them to gain the experience of being a part of the NCB's large symphonic sound and to perform on the stage of Pick-Staiger. Congratulations to Emma and George!
