This winter will see the return of the NBJH Bands Alumni Festival, and hopefully many of our alumni! Any and all former graduates of the NBJH band program are invited to join us in this special evening.
Alumni are invited to participate at any level they are comfortable: as audience members, casual performers, or full-fledged members of the NBJH Wind Ensemble! The alumni who wish to join the band as casual performers are invited to play "America the Beautiful" alongside our students. The arrangement will be accessible to even those who have taken a few years off playing their instrument. For those alumni who still perform actively, a more difficult selection will be available for them to perform with our Wind Ensemble members.
This year's event will also feature one of our distinguished alums, Mr. Doug Rosenthal. Mr. Rosenthal is Assistant Principal Trombone with both the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the Washington National Opera. Graduating NBJH in 2000, he went on to study Music Performance at Northwestern University after graduating Glenbrook North in 2004. The NBJH Wind Ensemble will accompany Mr. Rosenthal as he performs Concerto in B-flat (K191) by W.A. Mozart.
The evening will conclude with a brief reception for our alumni. Any interested alumni - whether as performers or audience members - are encouraged sign-up on our website at http://d28bands.weebly.com/alumni.html, or to contact Mr. Scapillato at [email protected] or 847-504-3530 for more information. Please spread the word - we hope to see many of our former students!
